Fun Times

Life has been busy AND fun around our home lately. Here goes...



Hoy was sitting on the couch watching TV, and all of the sudden Logan crawled up on the couch beside him and put her arms above her head just like him and started watching TV. She thought she was so funny (well, actually we did too!).

Logan has started loving to have tea parties. One of our good friends, Angela, bought the girls this soft, stuffed tea set around Christmas, and Logan now thinks everyone should have a tea party with her. I guess it is a compliment to be invited to a tea party. Here is Poppy playing along...actually he was a natural!!

Hoy had his 10 year class reunion on Memorial Day weekend, and here are the girls at the Saturday picnic. Logan loves to swing, and this was Lucy's first real exposure to the swing. We thought they looked so cute beside each other swinging, and let me tell you...Hoy was just a little proud to show these girls off to his old friends!!

Saturday after the picnic, we spent the afternoon at the farm with Hoy's grandparents. Logan loved playing outside with all of the animals, and Grandpa was happy to show her around. Logan stuck close to his side all afternoon exploring everything. Here she is messing with the chicken coup.

Logan and Grandpa are checking out something on the back porch. We are so glad that the girls have a place like the farm to experience nature and all of the things they would never see if they grew up in the city. Both Logan and Lucy like being outside, so they really get excited when we drive up at the farm.

Saturday night Hoy's class had a nice dinner at a local steak house, and we really had a nice time. This was a couple at the reunion (Hoy graduated with the guy) who did some singing and sharing their testimony. They were a really sweet couple, and they seemed to truly have a heart for the Lord. They gave everyone one of their CD's, and it has stayed in Ali's Tahoe since. Ali has 2 favorite songs that get played over and over.

Here is a picture of Hoy with Donavan and Abby who were probably 2 of his best friends while in school. They are with Kevin Williams who also graduated with them, and he is now a very successful defensive tackle for the Minnesota Vikings. We were impressed that he actually came to the reunion and how normal he really is after having so much success. He is the most famous person we know, at least that we're aware of!!!

Here is Logan on Grandma's bed cheesing it up for a picture. She is eating cereal and showing off because she knows she would never get away with that at home!!

Logan is still into hats and she will turn anything into a hat, and her puzzle boxes are no different. Here she is with one of her puzzle boxes turned up-side-down on her head and pushing her grocery cart.


Here is part of our fun on Memorial Day Monday. Hoy bought Logan a toy lawn mower that blows bubbles, and she loves pushing it around everywhere outside. She pushed the mower around the yard for about an hour, and when she was done she took about a 2 hour nap!

Here is Lucy's first experience in the pool this year. She got in the pool one time last summer when she was a tiny baby, but obviously she does not remember that...she slept through the whole thing! She thought this huge bath tub was pretty awesome.

Logan was basically fearless last summer in the pool, but she has aged and gained some wisdom over the last year and now she is aware that all of this water might be something to be afraid of. She likes double safety with floaties everywhere! Each time in the water she gets a little more trusting, but we want her to be a little afraid, at least enough to stay away from the water when we are not in the pool.

Here is Lucy hanging out in Logan's floaty from last year. We love this thing because it has a nice shade device attached and a pillow that the girls can lay their head on and take a nap if they get really tired. Lucy loved it as much as Logan.

Nonnie has been working with Logan teaching her to garden. Logan waters and fertilizes the tomatoes, roses, herbs, and flowers. Here she is watering the tomatoes. She really does not care what she is doing as long as it is outside!

Here is Lucy sitting on the deck in the rocking chair watching Logan work so hard at "mowing" the yard and "gardening." Lucy likes being outside, but she would just as soon be lazy and watch.

The first week of June Ali and her mom headed to the annual trip to Girls State. This year was Ali's 12th year to be a part of Arkansas Girls' State, and it was her mom's first year. This picture tells it all...the long hours of work that go into getting ready for the girls to arrive on Sunday.

Here is Ms. Corky, who has been a part of Arkansas Girls' State for 50 years! She was demonstrating how we all feel at some point during the week, but we all love it enough to come back year after year. Girls' State is a program designed for girls going into their senior year of high school to get away from home for week and experience government and politics on the state level. They campaign and elect officials all week, finally ending with the Governor. We usually have somewhere around 800 delegates, 100 counselors, and 30 staff members.

Girls' State is obviously for girls only, but one night of the week we had a boy-band come play for entertainment. You can only imagine the girls response to the boys, and the boys excitement over so many fans. Two of the four boys in this band are our "go-for" boys, and have been coming to Girls' State since they were little boys. Now they have grown into nice, handsome young men.



Here is Ali and "Nonnie" with the real Governor of Arkansas, Mike Beebe. We have an inauguration ceremony one night after our Girls' State governor has been elected, and traditionally the true Governor attends in her honor. This year was no different. Governor Beebe did give a nice, quick greeting and speech.

While the girls were at Girls' State Hoy and "Poppy" were home taking care of the babies and watching baseball. This week was the NCAA baseball tournament, and Hoy rigged up this contraption with his computer and TV so that they could be watching all games at the same time!

Here is Logan eating who knows what while Mommy and Nonnie are gone, and she was relying on Daddy and Poppy to feed her. She has a look on her face like she has just eaten something she knows she should not have eaten. I'm still not sure what it was, but I probably don't want to know.

Once Mommy was home from Girls' State, she had a lot of catching up on sleep to do. Logan was so glad to see her Mommy, she laid on the couch with Mommy while Mommy was sleeping just to be close to her.

Logan had Meredith's birthday party on Saturday. Meredith and Logan have been best friends since they were in the very first room at "school." They met at about 8 weeks of age, and have spent very few week days apart. They fight like sisters, but they stick up for each other against others too. Logan wouldn't miss "Mer Mer" party for anything!

Lucy had to go to the party with us, because we were out of baby-sitters this weekend. She was so good to sit to the side and play alone. You would never even know she was there!

Logan loved the bubbles, as usual. She was running all around like crazy so that she could touch every possible bubble.

Meredith with her Daddy blowing out the candles on her cake. Logan was watching that cake like a hawk. She definitely knows what a cake is, and that she wants a piece really badly!!

Here is Logan about 5 minutes after getting into the car from the birthday party. She got in the car saying "need nap!" Pretty funny!

Sunday, we had Kyndall's birthday party which is Logan's other best friend. Kyndall joined their class about 6 months ago, and as soon as Kyndall joined their class at school Logan and Meredith took her under their wings. I think Logan and Kyndall are better friends than Meredith and Kyndall, and truth be known at most times I think Logan likes Kyndall the best. Logan was so excited when we told her Sunday morning that we had another birthday party to go to because she remembered Meredith's from the day before. She was saying "Happy Birthday" all day Sunday. Here is Logan playing in the water activity.

Here is Logan playing at the "River Market" station in the playroom. This particular place has all kinds of stations to play at including a water station, market station, puppet show station, climbing station, wind and scarf station, crawling station, etc. Logan just wanted to eat the plastic foods. I wish she would eat real vegetables as well as these plastic ones!!

Here is Logan giving Kyndall a big hug telling her Happy Birthday before going to eat cake. It does not look like Kyndall is returning that hug too well, but probably because Logan is squeezing so hard. It is kind of funny because Logan is very affectionate, giving hugs and kisses all the time, and Lucy is just the opposite. Lucy will turn her head the other way when you try to kiss her and usually she would just as soon be on the floor then sitting in someone's lap or getting hugs.

Here are Logan and Kyndall eating birthday cake. Logan ate every last bite and asked for more, but it was 5:00 and we did not want her to spoil her dinner.

Once again, Lucy had to tag along and she found a piece of plastic bread that was keeping her happy. Lucy is 11 months old and still does not have any teeth!! However, she will eat just about anything like she has a mouth full.
